STARLIMS, LIMS, IT ,SoftwareAs discussed in Part 1, the STARLIMS Mobile solution allows laboratory staff members to remain connected to each other and access lab data 24/7. Part 2 will discuss STARLIMS mobile apps, features, and solutions for every laboratory role.

Standard Template Apps

Abbott Informatics provides out-of-the-box template apps to allow laboratory staff to begin using the STARLIMS Mobile solution immediately. Additionally, the templates can be customized to address a company’s needs.

Inventory Management

The capable app enables inventory management, including searches for inventory. In addition, it can also perform transactions like moving location, recording consumption, and noting the expiration of materials.

Folder Logins

Laboratory staff can perform folder logins offsite, recording client and sample data.

User Account Admin

Lab personnel can perform account admin tasks such as resetting passwords, unlocking accounts, and changing status while being away from the office.

Solutions for Each Laboratory Role

Laboratory Managers – Not being at their desk does not prevent them from releasing a sample needed urgently or checking up on how their lab is operating whenever needed. They can remain connected 24/7, and their LIMS can be accessed remotely from tablets or smartphones for performing actions that are needed immediately.

Production Managers – They must meet critical deadlines and maintain high quality at the same time. With the STARLIMS Mobile solution, they do not have to await reports from the QC lab. Using a smartphone or tablet, a production manager can approve results, get status updates, and take actions quickly after receiving results.

Field Personnel – Although they are in the field, laboratory technicians won’t have to return to their facilities to enter or research data. Utilizing a tablet or smartphone, a lab tech can record sample data at the collection site and enter field observations, including GPS data and site photos, into the LIMS.

Warehouse Personnel – Although they are not working in a usual laboratory site, they sometimes require access to lab information. App-enabled mobile devices will provide fast access to the LIMS, allowing them to easily manage inventory and confirm test results through barcode scanning.
