Windows 7 reached its End-of-Life on January 14, 2020, ending Microsoft’s support and security updates that addressed newly found vulnerabilities. Microsoft encourages a migration to Windows 10 to ensure continued security.
An experienced managed IT services provider can help smooth your organization’s transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The following will discuss what’s next for Windows 10 in 2020.

Windows 10 20H1

In spring 2020, Microsoft will release 20H1, which is Window 10’s next major update. 20H1 has had quite an extended development period. It was delayed due to Microsoft’s focus and support of Windows 10X. The changes 20H1 will bring are devoted to improving performance and reliability as listed below.
• Cortana will evolve into a personal productivity assistant for Microsoft 365 apps.
• Disk usage will improve for Windows Search, providing better results.
• Four quick searches for Weather, Top News, Today in History, and New Movies will be available in Search Home.

Windows 10X

Microsoft and its partners announced it will start shipping foldable dual-screen hardware in 2020. Their Surface Neo will be Microsoft’s first device, and it will be available for the holiday season at the end of the year.
Although Windows 10X will at first only be used for these new devices, Microsoft is also considering installing Windows 10X in conventional notebooks in the future. Featuring a simpler UI and stronger security, Windows 10X is also capable of sandboxing and containerizing legacy Win32 apps to make their use secure.
Windows 10X is a more user-friendly version of Windows 10, which may be a challenge at times to manage for smaller companies. Notably, Windows 10X offers backwards compatibility and Win32 app support to ease its adoption.
