Symptoms Indicating Your Company Needs an IT Upgrade – Part 2
April 17, 2023Symptoms Indicating Your Company Needs an IT Upgrade – Part 3
April 24, 2023Part 2 will cover Cloud-Native Backup and IoT (Internet of Things).
Cloud-Native Backup
Companies are increasingly transitioning to cloud-only environments, making cloud-native backup and recovery solutions essential. They are typically integrated with cloud services and offered by providers to their customers.
Cloud-native backup solutions create container images and duplicate supporting data and configurations. However, there are cases when a container image is not sufficient. As stateful applications require persistent storage, information relevant to infrastructure configurations, networking details, associated files, and databases will be duplicated.
Automating backups, managing backups at scale, and recovering data and workloads are some of the tasks cloud-native solutions make much easier for organizations.
The traditional backup has to copy data individually, which is challenging for distributed systems and can result in errors. In contrast, cloud-native software is pre-configured to back up various configurations and resources utilized by cloud-native deployments.
IoT (Internet of Things)
Taking control of numerous networks, including digital assistants, sensors, and user interfaces at endpoints, IoT is rapidly gaining traction. Collecting and processing data at a constant rate, IoT devices typically use internal resources and are situated at the edge of networks. Thus, the data they gather can be retained even when disconnected from the system.
Although IoT device data is not a conventional backup, it can still be utilized to restore a system to its last recorded state. Changes that have occurred since the last complete backup can be determined. This may help a company minimize any damage that may have happened.
IoT devices are not yet widely used as a method for data backup and recovery. However, they have capabilities that can be practical integrations with existing solutions. As IoT technology matures, these applications will surely gain traction.
