Increased Security

Smart App Control will increase users’ confidence when downloading apps on Windows 11. It blocks untrusted and unsigned apps, preventing script files and malicious macros from infiltrating your computer. This feature can determine whether an app is safe to download in real time. Utilizing the same AI integrated by Windows Defender Application Control, the solution is available for either business or personal usage.

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen can now identify when users enter their Microsoft credentials on a hacked website or malicious app, which then triggers an alert. This update also provides HVCI (hypervisor-protected code integrity). The Microsoft vulnerable driver block list is on every new Windows 11 device by default. In addition, identity protection is enhanced, and password management is simplified.

Improved Video Tools  

Building on the success of Microsoft Teams, Version 22H2 introduced Windows Studio Effects, improving the quality of audio and video calls. The camera now utilizes Voice Focus for filtering out background noise. A background blurring tool can obscure what is behind you. Eye Contact gives you the appearance of constantly looking at the camera. Automatic Framing keeps the camera focused on users as they move. The update also includes Clipchamp, a video-editing app.

Android Apps & Gaming

Android apps became available on Windows PCs with the launch of Windows 11. This update significantly expands the Amazon App Store preview, increasing the number of Android apps and games to more than 20,000.

Microsoft’s browser, Edge, features a new Gaming home page. It features new releases, streams, recently played Xbox Game Pass games, rewards, tournaments, and other goodies. A new Gaming hub is also now in play on Edge.

The new Controller bar makes accessing games easier. The tool also gives users an updated view of the Xbox Game Bar. This gives them speedier access to recently played launchers and games. Version 22H2 boosts gaming performance optimizations, decreasing latency and unlocking Variable Refresh and Auto HDR.

Edge’s new Gaming homepage provides personalized stories and eases access to recently played games and the Xbox Cloud Gaming library. The addition of Clarity Boost provides sharper graphics for cloud gaming.
