As discussed in Part 1, QM12.2 enforces standard testing procedures and methods, and the solution also directly integrates with various laboratory instrumentations and systems.

Labs benefit from greater efficiency, minimized data transcription and entry errors, and reduces expensive and lengthy investigations to demonstrate data integrity.

Part 2 will continue by discussing the STARLIMS Interfaces with SAP S4/HANA, Biovia Draw & Biovia Direct and the Biorepository Module.

SAP S4/HANA

An extension of the existing interface with SAP QM-IDI and ESS, the STARLIMS interface with SAP S4/HANA allows the exchange and mapping of information between these two solutions.

By interfacing SAP’s business suite 4 HANA or S/4 HANA with the STARLIMS Quality Management module, customers can leverage seamlessly advantages of their ERP and LIMS solutions in the verification of materials quality of inspection lots. Thus, specification and material lot data can be directly transmitted from SAP to STARLIMS, significantly decreasing problems arising from transcription or manual entry of data through data generation automation inside STARLIMS. Thereafter, usage decision is transferred to SAP.

Biovia Draw & Biovia Direct

Interfacing Biovia Draw and Biovia Direct with STARLIMS QM 12.2 for chemical reactions and chemical structures lets laboratory staff associate a chemical reaction or structure to material inside the material manager to a folder sample inside the folder lifecycle.

As Biovia Draw and Biovia Direct are third party solutions, STARLIMS Customers must have licenses for these solutions to interface with QM12.2.  Abbott does not include their licenses or provide support.

Biorepository Module

The new QM12.2 Biorepository Module enables laboratories to separate the management of biological samples from other lab materials. Users can define biological material and classifications for usage in the entire system. Customers in the industries of Pharma/Biotech and Agricultural/Crop Sciences will find this module solution valuable for managing biological samples, testing, storage locations, containers, disposition, and chain of custody.
