STARLIMS Releases Life Sciences 11.4 & LES 1.4 – Part 2
May 12, 2023

STARLIMS’ objective is to provide their customers the quality solutions that will help them accurately, safely, and swiftly test and manage patient samples. In March 2023, STARLIMS released Life Sciences (LS) 11.4 and Laboratory Execution System (LES) 1.4. Featuring increased configuration capability, the two releases will provide more excellent sample testing and integrated functionalities.

LS 11.4 Improve Lab Productivity, Operations & Sample Processing

As patient samples increase, testing will become more complex. In addition, the limitations of staffing and resources will decrease productivity. LS 11.4 has new features that streamline operations and manage sample testing, potentially increasing laboratory productivity.

Offering new configuration capabilities in the Workflow Engine, LS 11.4 supports the creation of several step outputs from one step input. Users can now adapt workflows with additional parameters to more situations. This feature offers the flexibility to revise complex workflows and steps in a sample’s journey swiftly and efficiently.

Improvements to the Sample Reception Module let users efficiently manage the receipt and processing of clinical, biorepository, clinical trial, and sample shipments into STARLIMS.

This module gives labs greater visibility and control over a laboratory by allowing users efficiently receive sample shipments via API or eManifest file uploads.

Users can revise sample details, fix errors, send notifications regarding missing samples, process samples, and route them to their respective workflows.

LS 11.4 introduces an integrated tool for the import of static configuration data that will allow swifter time-to-value. Users can import static data from Excel or CSV files, speeding initial system setup and data configuration. In addition, the standardization of the record pagination mechanism results in improved user experience and performance.

Part 2 will discuss Laboratory Execution System (LES) 1.4.
