As discussed in Part 1, Abbott Informatics announced the release of Technology Platform V12.2, which is a significant step forward in modernizing STARLIMS. Part 2 will discuss the other enhancements, including Systems Interfacing, and Scientific Data Management System, STARLIMS Bridge, and Complimentary Upgrade.

Systems Interfacing

Introduced in a previous update, Systems Interfacing has swiftly become the best approach for completing data acquisition by a LIMS from other software and instruments. Acquisition was carried out through various channels, message formats, and protocols. In this TP v12.2 release, the capabilities of Systems Interfacing were broadened to accommodate AWS S3 file storage support, improvements in HL7 format handling, and Inbound/Outbound CSV files support.

SDMS

SDMS (Scientific Data Management System) is capable of archiving, extracting, and parsing data from documents that were produced by instruments. TP v12.2 raises these capabilities by letting SDMS to archive along with the primary document the additional files generated by the instrument. Abbott Informatics also created APIs enabling a SDMS to have complex bi-directional integrations with other enterprise applications of an organization.

STARLIMS Bridge

In addition to being a visually appealing HTML5 application functioning in modern browsers, STARLIMS is a professional laboratory system connecting with all the modern software and instruments of today.

Through the use of the STARLIMS Bridge component, lab personnel are able to directly read RS232 balances and other devices directly from the client-side from their STARLIMS. In addition, STARLIMS Bridge also allows analysts to work directly with non-HTML5 3rd party solutions like Waters Empower.

The TP v12.2 release introduces two STARLIMS Bridge features that enable novel and unique STARLIMS deployment scenarios.  Moreover, STARLIMS Bridge installation is now supported for a shared environment like Citrix. Support for an installation beyond the local machine is also supported, allowing TC/PIP and serial device integration.
