Released recently, STARLIMS Technology Platform v12.4 (TP v12.4) is available as an upgrade for all STARLIMS v10 – v12 platforms. Upgrading STARLIMS is a fast and easy process that will deliver new features, along with fixes and performance enhancements to your system.

A maintenance release, the Technology Platform focuses on improving HTML5 systems, providing fixes that primarily address HTML5 runtimes.

Microsoft Edge for XFD Systems

Commencing with this release, STARLIMS transitions from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge, which is now the default browser for XFD systems. Every validation and test for XFD systems will be carried out on Microsoft Edge for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Making the switch from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge only requires a basic IT configuration.

Transition Notes

• STARLIMS supports Edge for a specific range of legacy TP versions for cases when upgrading to TP 12.4 cannot be done. Kindly contact the internal customer portal for additional information.

• The Internet Explorer to Edge transition does not impact customers with HTML5 systems. HTML5 systems are developed to function natively on modern browsers, including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. For modernizing, STARLIMS has recommended users consider the tech upgrade of their STARLIMS systems from XFD to HTML5.

Cumulative Update

The STARLIMS Technology Platform is considered a cumulative update. As determined by the current version of the Technology Platform, updating this newest version of TP may provide features that have not been described here. You should contact STARLIMS for additional information regarding the benefits of a Technology Platform update.
