Who Are Hackers?
July 22, 2016What is Malware?
July 29, 2016Encryption is a protection system to protect us when we make a credit card purchase, get cash from an ATM machine, and make a phone call from a cell phone. Encryption transforms numbers, text, sounds and streams into unrecognizable coding that is complex in such a way that it becomes more secure because it is not easily identified.
For example, when you have a common password, then you add a few extra letters and/or numbers, is like adding encryption because the password is no longer easily identified or guessed by hackers. Similarly, when you write you can have encryption when extra coding files are added to protect your writing.
Encryption allows you to send a message that can only be opened by one person or a select group of people by using two keys: one private and one public key. To lock the message you need to use the public key. After the message is locked, it can only be opened with a connecting private key. This is done to have a combination of numbers as part of the code to make it difficult for a hacker to break. This helps to scramble the message to protect it from people not invited to have this message.
One way of getting encryption more secure, a technique has been developed called end-to-end encryption. This helps to have the information scrambled before hackers could see the information if they try to get in to an encrypted program, or system.
HTTPS also know as Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure on the internet is the way to encrypt your information to keep it secure. It is especially important to keep sensitive data and information such as your bank account private so that only you can see that information online, and no one can hack to get into your information on HTTPS sites. To have an HTTPS site you must purchase an SSL certification from a Certification Authority, and then install it on your web server. Companies such as Go Daddy are authorized to sell this certification.
Encryption is very important way to keep your confidential information protected online.
